Dr. Gamolwan Tumcharern (Pla), Head of the NANOTEC Sensor Lab and member of the Chulalongkorn research team was recently invited to give a presentation to the NSTDA Executive Management (XCMB) on “Sensors from π – conjugated Acetylenes” in which the research team won the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) Research Output Award 2010.
The research team headed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mongkol Sukwattanasinitt (Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science) consisted of 4 researchers: 3 from Chulalongkorn (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mongkol Sukwattanasinitt, Assist. Dr. Paitoon Rashatasakorn, Dr. Sumrit Wachayasindhu) and one from NANOTEC (Dr. Gamolwan). NANOTEC is one of the funding agencies for this research project.
The meeting of the NSTDA XCMB is held every Tuesday and is chaired by Dr. Thaweesak Kaonantrakool, President of NSTDA. In addition to discussing various management topics, the meeting is also used as a venue to give recognition to researchers who have won awards and to allow informal introductory between researchers and management.
The NRCT Award is an annual event to recognize outstanding Thai researchers who have contributed to promoting science, technology and innovation. The NRCT Awards for 2010 consisted of Researcher Award, Research Output Award, and Doctoral Thesis Award for the Year 2010. For 2010, the NRCT received a total of 160 applications of which only 35 outstanding inventions were selected to receive awards. The NRCT Award 2010 presentation ceremony was presented in conjunction with the 2011 National Innovation Day, during 2-5 February 2011 at IMPACT Arena Muang Thong Thani.
