Radiation therapy is a highly effective treatment for localized cancers, but can be limited by the inherent resistance of some cancer cells to ionizing radiation. Attempts to improve outcomes have largely focused on increasing delivered dose, sensitizing resistant tumour cells or developing targeted therapies.
