The National Nanotechnology Center  : NANOTEC

The National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC) is a government-affiliated organization under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). Established on 13 August 2003, its core mission is to build, support, and promote national nanotechnology capability, disseminate knowledge to the public, transfer technologies to industry, and raise public awareness, literacy, and understanding so that citizens are prepared to engage with nanotechnology today and in the future. These efforts align with the objectives of Thailand’s current National Economic and Social Development Plan.

NANOTECHNOLOGY

Nanotechnology is a new trend in technological developments in the 21st century. It involves the process of creating, synthesizing, controlling, and making use of very small materials or structures at the nanometer scale. Nanotechnology will create the materials with special properties that can be transformed to the innovation in all fields of science and technology. This technology will help raising the quality of life of the Thai people as well as enhance the capabilities of the Thai industries to be competitive with others around the world.

GOALS

  • Conduct research and development to create new knowledge in nanoscience and nanotechnology at the international level, along with preserving and caring for society and environment.
  • Push the policies and strategies related to nanoscience and nanotechnology to be tangible and sustainable among Thai people.
  • Provide services and technology transfers in nanoscience and nanotechnology to the manufacturing sector as well as ensure knowledge accuracy with the public.
  • Drive the production of high quality and desired manpower for the development of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
