RTI International, a United States-based research institute, is hosting a policy forum, “Nanotechnology: The Huge Challenge of Regulating Tiny Technologies”, on May 4, 2011, from 9:30 to 10:30 EDT, in Washington, D.C. This policy forum will convene a group of experts to discuss the issues, concerns, and public policies necessary to maximize the benefits of this technology while minimizing the risks. Speakers include: Jim Alwood, Toxic Substances Control Act Nanotechnology Coordinator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; Cole Matson, Executive Director of the Center for the Environmental Implications of Nanotechnology at Duke University; Michele Ostraat, Senior Director of the Center for Aerosol and Nanomaterials Engineering at RTI; and, Sally Tinkle, Deputy Director of the National Nanotechnology Coordination Office.
