The 2 days NANOTEC International Advisory Board (IAB) 2011 Meeting concluded on September 10 at The Zign Hotel Pattaya. IAB members attending the meeting included Prof. Sukekatsu Ushioda (NIMS, Japan and Chairman of IAB), Prof. Peter Gray (AIB, Australia), prof. Masahiko Hara (RIKEN, Japan), Dr. Peter Kearns (OECD, France), Prof. Harald Krug (EMPA, Switzwerland), Dr. Meyya Meyyappan (NASA Ames Research Center, USA). Unable to attend the meeting included prof. Dr. Markus Antonietti (Max Planck, Germany), Prof. Heinrich Hofmann (SPERU, Switzerland), and Prof. Peter Singer (University of Toronto, Canada).
“The meeting was very useful in the sense that we were able to share experiences and also learn from NANOTEC” said Prof. Ushioda, Chairman of IAB. “It is quite interesting to see and hear that many issues do not only pertains to Thailand but also experienced in other countries such as Japan, Australia, Switzerland, and the USA. Overall, NANOTEC research undertaking is on the right track”.
“My recommendation for 2012 AIB meeting is to allow for more presentations by researchers on the various publications published” said Prof. Krug. “Presentations by individual IAB members might be given less time. This way, we can give specific input”
This recommendation was also echoed by Prof. Hara who added that the scientific presentation by NANOTEC researchers should be on originally scientific and data research topics.
The decision on the month to hold the 2012 IAB meeting is still undecided. However, there was a talk on a November meeting.
