Friends of National Science and Technology Development Agency (FoN) organized the “FoN: Together Thailand Recovery Campaign” at the Ministry of S&T on November 30. The aim of the event is to act as a venue for members of FoN to showcase research output that will help speed after flood recovery process in the form of Recovery Kit. Participating members included NSTDA, NANOTEC, NECTEC, Arunsawad.Com, BCT, Betagro, Digitdi, iNET, NETKA System, Build Asia, and Hi-Grimm Environmental and Research Co.,Ltd. The event was opened by Mr. Kamol Bandaipetch, Secretary to the Minister of Science and Technology and Dr. Thaweesak Koanantakool, President of NSTDA.
“I was very surprised at the level of assistance shown between Thai people during the flood crisis” said Kamol Bandaipetch. “In my various visits to shelter areas, both public and private sector came in force to help flood victims; NSTDA was also one of the groups that came out to help. The FoN initiative is an effective channel to help speed up recovery process for flood victim both for private home owners and business”.
“We must help to speed up Thailand’s recovery, especially in the SME sector, which is considered the back bone of the country” said Dr. Thaweesak. “The wellness of SMEs will help act as a catalyst to the recovery process such as employment, income distribution, etc. The result of the flood crisis also helps to increases innovations by both public and private sector as can be seen in the Recovery Kit items. We hope the FoN channel will be a source of support to those in need of help during and after the flood crisis”.
