Prof. Pairash Thajchayapong, Chairman of Executive Board of Thailand’s National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC) has been named Quality Persons of the Year 2011 by the Foundation of the Scientific and Technological Council of Thailand for his life-long dedication to promoting science and technology development in Thailand. The award ceremony was presented by H.E. General Pichitr Kullavanijaya, Privy Councilor. |
Professor Thajchapong has been at the forefront of Thailand’s S&T development initiatives. He was the founding Executive Director of the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), President of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Currently, he chairs the Executive Board of NANOTEC and NECTEC. “It is without question that S&T plays a major role in strengthening national competitiveness” said Prof. Thajchayapong. “However, in our efforts to strengthening our economy we should not overlook the other aspects of national priorities such as applying S&T for grassroots and community development.
