Thailand joins over 20 countries at the 12th nanotech 2013 which opened this morning at Tokyo Big Sight. Over 50,000 registered participants are expected to attend the 3 days international exhibition and conference. This year marks Thailand’s 3rd participation at what is considered the global platform for nanotechnology.
Leading the Thai delegate are representatives from Agricultural Research Development Agency (ARDA), Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO), Netto Manufacturing, The Thai Board of Investment (BOI), Siam Cement Group (SCG), Thailand Center of Excellence for Life Sciences (TCELS), and National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC). The delegates will also join a number of Business Match meetings which it hopes will lead to fruitful collaboration opportunities. |
Prof. Pairash Thajchayapong, Chairman of NANOTEC Executive Board, Ms. Ajarin Pattanapanchai, Senior Executive Investment Advisor of BOI, and Prof. Sirirurg Songsivilai, Executive Director of NANOTEC was on hand to participate at the Thailand Pavilian Ribbon Cutting ceremony. The theme of the Thailand Pavilion is “Benefiting Society’s Needs” which showcase highlight research activities that are considered practical and meet society’s needs. The Thai team will also use this event to spearhead a special seminar of its own on the following topics: “Status of nanotechnology development in Thailand” by Prof. Sirirurg, “Life Sciences in Thailand” by Dr. Nares Damrongchai, Executive Director of TCELS, and “Incentives and support for nanotechnoliogy and life sciences investment in Thailand” by Ms. Ajarin.
Given the importance of the event as a global platform for nanotechnology it is expected that Thailand will also participate in the nanotech 2014 which will be held during January 29-31, 2014 in Tokyo. |
