NANO Talk: “New Types of DNA Chips”

Invitation to attend: NANO Talk on “New Types of DNA Chips”

When: September 19 (10:00 – 11:30)

Where: NANOTEC (Room 406)

Speaker: Dr. Nobuhiro Gemma (Chief Fellow at Toshiba R&D Center, Japan)

Abstract:

Toshiba has been developing the original electrochemical DNA chip. In contrast to the conventional fluorescent DNA chip, labeling of DNA is unnecessary and the detection unit is simple in the electrochemical DNA chip. It is expected to realize DNA testing with simple operation and low cost, and to be used as point-of-care device in medical diagnostics, food testing and agricultural applications.

In the seminar, we talk about several DNA chip products; DNA chip for HPV genotyping, DNA chip system for biological agents and DNA chip for hygienic control. In addition, we introduce a novel DNA chip card system in which DNA amplification is performed on chip and the operation can be performed automatically.
