MOST meets cosmeceutical groups

“Why do we buy overseas brand name cosmetic products when there are good domestic brand cosmetics available which are cheaper and as effective” asked Dr. Phiraphan Phalusuk, Minister of S&T who chaired the meeting this morning with public and private sector groups at the ministry.  The meeting focuses on 2 key needs of the cosmeceutical sector; the need to establish testing labs catered to the cosmetics sector and availability of a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Lab. According to the participants, by establishing testing labs and GMP lab will help leap frog market trust on Thai cosmetic products both domestic and international clients.

Attending the meeting were representatives from the Thai Cosmetic Manufacturing Association, Federation of Thai Industries, private companies, and research agencies from NSTDA and NANOTEC. It was decided that NSTDA/NANOTEC will draw up a draft cosmecuetical strategy roadmap which will be propose to concerned groups for comments/input.
