Appointment of new President of Asia Nano Forum

Congratulations to Prof. Sirirurg Songsivilai, Executive Director of NANOTEC who was recently appointed the new President of Asia Nano Forum (ANF). The appointment was made during the 10th Asia Nano Forum Summit in Japan on January 26, 2014.

The Asia Nano Forum (ANF), Asia Nanotechnology Leaders’ Association, is a network organization in Nanotechnology covering 15 economies in the Asia Pacific region.  With the Headquarters in Singapore, ANF Mission is to promote Asia’s role in research & development of nanotechnology that educationally, socially, environmentally and economically benefits each economy by fostering international network and collaboration.  The flagship activities are annual meeting of Asia’s nanotechnology leaders, Asia Nano Camp for young nanotechnologists, shared use of high-end infrastructure and Asia NanoSafe network.  ANF represents Asia in international nanotechnology networks and activities.

“It is a great honor to be appointed ANF President” said Prof. Sirirurg. “ANF is a very important organization that is helping to drive the growth of nanotechnology development in Asia Pacific.  This appointment also recognizes Thailand’s leading role in the development and application of nanotechnology for economic and societal impacts”.

Prof. Sirirurg also praised Prof Teruo Kishi former ANF president for his commitment to forging collaboration. Prof. Sirirurg said that he too will continue to work with member economies for global impacts.

The duration of this appointment is for 2 years starting January 2014.  Professor Sirirurg takes over the ANF presidency from Professor Kishi, former President of Japan’s National Institute for Materials Science.
