Draft National Nanotechnology Initiative Environmental, Health, and Safety Research Strategy

The draft National Nanotechnology Initiative Environmental, Health, and Safety Research Strategy is now available for public comment. The draft NNI EHS strategy includes a scientific framework that incorporates the research needed to assess the environmental, health and safety of nanomaterials, while also ensuring the responsible development of nanotechnology by providing guidance to the Federal agencies that produce the scientific information for risk management, regulatory decision-making, product use, research planning and public outreach. The planning efforts to develop this strategy were detailed and highly collaborative, and included outreach with such stakeholders as the nanotechnology research and development EHS community, public health advocacy groups, non-governmental organizations, industry representatives and the public. Comment will be accepted until January 6, 2011.
