Bioanalysis is a good example of scientific development as there are many excellent progresses in multiple areas such as speed, sensitivity, and sample size and data volume. The introduction of metal nanoparticles in recent years has revealed interesting properties that greatly enhance bioanalysis applications.
“Metal nanoparticles exhibit interesting chemical, electronic as well as optical properties and show a great potential for novel biomedical applications both in diagnostics as well as in targeted therapy” said Prof. Wolfgang Fritzsche, Head of Nanobiophotonics at Institute of Photonic Technology in Germany during a recent NANO Talk session at NANOTEC. “Gold nanoparticles are one of the most interesting sensing materials because of their unique size and shape dependent optical properties, high extinction coefficients, and super-quenching capability”.
Attending the talk were researchers from private sector groups, NANOTEC, and university research labs.
NANO Talk is a monthly public forum organized by NANOTEC for researchers and visiting professors to exchange knowledge and be updated on technology trends. Visiting professors to Thailand are encouraged to participate. Please contact NANOTEC if you are interested in receiving updates or would like to recommend a speaker.
