Congratulations to Dr. Pongkarn Chakthranont for L’Oréal Thailand “For Women in Science” 2024

 

Dr. Pongkarn Chakthranont, NANOTEC researcher from the Catalyst Research Team, has been awarded the L’Oréal Thailand “For Women in Science” fellowship in the field of Physical Sciences. She received a research grant of 250,000 baht, along with a certificate of honor, for her project titled “Electrochemical Reaction Acceleration for Energy and Environmental Sustainability.” This initiative aims to develop an electrochemical cell capable of simultaneously facilitating reactions that convert carbon dioxide from greenhouse gas emissions into valuable chemicals, thereby addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainability.

 

Dr. Pongkarn is recognized as one of the outstanding female researchers who have made significant contributions and possess the potential to advance societal progress in environmental and sustainability issues. This recognition aligns with L’Oréal’s vision of creating beauty that drives the world forward by supporting research and enhancing the role of women in science, while also raising awareness of environmental concerns and contributing to sustainability efforts at both national and global levels.

During the award ceremony, Professor Yongyuth Yuthavong and Professor Dr. Pairash Thajchayapong extended their congratulations to the award recipients. Additionally, Dr. Uracha Ruktanonchai, Executive Director of NANOTEC along with Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of ENTEC and Professor Dr. Siwaporn Meejoo Smith, Deputy Executive Director of NANOTEC, attended the event to express their congratulations.
