This significant event showcases global advancements in nanotechnology through the 8th International Conference and Exhibition on Nanotechnology (NanoThailand 2023) held at the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC), NSTDA, and organized by the Thailand Nanotechnology Association in collaboration with VISTEC. The theme for this year’s event is “Nanotechnology for Sustainable World,” with the honor of being opened by Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI).
Dr. Phawadee Aungwattana, Deputy Director of Nanotec, NSTDA, emphasized that NanoThailand 2023, the 8th edition of the conference and exhibition, attracted more than 350 participants, including 100 international participants from 20 countries worldwide. This aligns with the objectives of the Thailand Nanotechnology Association, fostering academic exchange and knowledge dissemination, showcasing research outcomes, and promoting collaboration in nanotechnology research and innovation both nationally and internationally.
Nanotec, NSTDA, plays a pivotal role as a research organization dedicated to excellence in nanotechnology innovation. Its commitment extends to establishing a foundation for the development of nanotechnology, contributing to academic strength through research and development, and applying research findings to create economic and societal impacts, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for the Thai population. NanoThailand serves as a crucial platform driving the progress of Thailand’s nanotechnology on the global stage.
Mr. Por Bunyarattapan, Vice President of the Thailand Nanotechnology Association, highlighted the association’s role as an independent organization serving as a central hub for connecting and exchanging academic knowledge between public and private organizations, both nationally and internationally. The association functions as a coordination center, addressing challenges and developing various industries, promoting fair and extensive collaboration between academia and industry in Thailand’s nanotechnology sector.
NanoThailand 2023 featured distinguished keynote speakers, including Prof. Susumu Kitagawa from Kyoto University, Japan, a pioneer in functional chemistry of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), and Prof. Cees Dekker from Delft University of Technology, Netherlands, an expert in nanopore technology. These speakers provided insights into cutting-edge advancements in nanotechnology on a global scale.
Dr. Jamras Limtrakul, President of VISTEC, expressed pride in hosting and presenting the research progress in nanotechnology at NanoThailand 2023. The institute’s main objective is to utilize nanotechnology across various fields to foster sustainable development. The conference serves as a platform for exchanging technological knowledge and sharing the latest research and innovation to contribute to a sustainable world.
The NanoThailand 2023 international conference covers 13 topics, including Nanoencapsulation and Functional Ingredients, Theory and Simulation for Nanosystems, Nanosafety & Standard, Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology for Electronic/Optoelectronic Devices and Sensors, Nanomedicine, Nanosensor and Nano-Biotechnology, Nanotechnology for Energy Storage and Management, Nanotechnology for Environment and Agriculture, Nanotechnology for Catalysis and Industrial Applications, Nanotechnology for Startups and Industrial Enterprises, Nanocharacterization & Instrumentation, and three special sessions: Advanced Nanostructured Materials for a Global Circular Economy, Symposium on Bio-Based Chemicals & Fuels from Lignocellulose 2023 (Hub of Knowledge), and The 2nd Thailand Symposium on Nanopore technology.
The conference also featured presentations of outstanding nanotechnology research works, including nanocapsule technology and functional components, various inspection kits, carbon capture utilization (CCU) technologies, and innovative products developed from research by CLEANTECH AND BEYOND CO., LTD, under the auspices of the Vidyasirimedhi Institute.
