NANOTEC wins NSTDA Investors’ Day Award at IPITEX 2014
Dr. Thitikorn Boonkoom a researcher at NANOTEC Integrated Nanosystem Lab (INS) gave an outstanding investment pitching performance on Q-Log (fresh food logger) at NSTDA’s Investors’ Day 2014 which was held in conjunction with IPITEX 2014 at BITEC, Bang Na. A total of 27 teams from various research institutions competed for the Outstanding Presentation Award and the Investment Award. NANOTEC Q-Log was awarded the Outstanding Presentation Award and runner up for the Outstanding Investment Award.
Q-Log is a 3 cm flexible thermal indicator/sensor sticker that the store can stick on the package of food products once it is bought by the consumer. The Q-Log once pressed will inform the consumer via color changes (blue to green to yellow to red) if the food product is safe for consumption (red means the food is not edible). The response temperature is between zero to four degrees celcius, accuracy is +/- 1 degree celcius, and can be stored in room temperature. Prospective applications for Q-Log is in food sector (bakery and frozen food), and health care sectors. The core technology of Q-Log is natural micro-fluidics for trigger, release, and control reaction.
The Q-Log team consisted of Dr. Paisan Khanchaitit (INS), Dr. Thitikorn Boonkoom (INS), Dr. Supon Manakasettharn (INS), and Dr. Lapporn Vayachuta (Functional Nanomaterials and Interfaces Lab (FNI).
NSTDA Investors’ Day is aimed to uplift the standard of Thailand’s technology and innovation industry. The event is in line with the government policy to strengthen Thailand’s society and economy by uplifting the country’s potential in science and research.
