NRCT Secretary General Prof. Dr. Soottiporn Chittmittrapap announced this morning at a press conference the winners of the 2013 NRCT Award for Outstanding Researcher, Research Project, Innovation, and Ph.D Thesis. The award ceremony will take place on February 3 during the NRCT Innovators’ Day 2014 which is scheduled for Feb 2-5 at Muang Thong Thani (Hall 9) under the theme “Innovation for Mankind”.
Researchers from MTEC and NANOTEC (a member of NSTDA) were among the candidates who will receive the awards under the catergory of Outstanding Research Project and Ph.D Thesis.
MTEC (4 outstanding research projects)
- “Titania Nanotube Array: Film Fabrication Study, Morphology-Surface property Relations, and Hemocompatibility Test” by Dr. Sorachon Yoriya and team
- “DIY Spacer (Do-It-Yourself Spacer for asthmatic patients” a Collaboration research work between MTEC and Thammasart University
- “Thai Advanced Preservative System for Natural Rubber Latex” by Mrs.Chaveewan Kongkaew
- “Thin Film Sputtering Machine” by Dr. Sorachon Yoriya and Mr. Wattana Samarnjit.
NANOTEC (Ph.D Thesis)
- “Comparison of Ultrastructure and Mineralisation in Bone-like Tissues Derived from Mouse Osteoblasts, Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Embryonic Stem Cells” by Dr. Suimon Boonrungsiman from NANOTEC NanoSafety and Risk Assessment Lab (SRA) The thesis was written during her study at Imperial College London with guidance from Prof. Dr. Molly Stevens.

Congratulations also goes to Prof. Timothy William Felgel from Centex Shrimp of Mahidol University a very good friend of NSTDA was among the 11 candidates who will receive the NRCT Outstanding Researcher 2013 for his dedication to helping improve Thai shrimp research.
