Water hyacinth is an invasive waterweed, covers the surface of many of the canals in Pathumthani province. The leaves may look lush and green, but they block the water flow, worsen water quality and raise the risk of flooding. With the continuous rain falls this past few weeks, local authorities have ordered officials to remove water hyacinths blocking waterways and urged residents to keep an eye on flood alerts.
