Start of Nanomaterial Joint Research Meeting

Speaking at the 2nd NANOTEC-NRI Nanomaterial Joint Research Meeting Prof. Sirirurg Songsivilai, Executive Director of NANOTEC said that the pace of advancement in nanotechnology development is rapid and massive investment is being placed on R&D, infrastructure, and manufacturing. Prof. Sirirurg went on to say that nanomaterials are an increasingly important product of nanotechnologies and in the past decade, nanaomaterials have been the subject of enormous interest. Because of its size, nanomaterials have the potential for wide-ranging industrial, biomedical, and electronic applications.

“We signed a Letter of Intent on Jan 23 of this year to work with NANOTEC on areas related to nanobiotechnology because we see there are complimentary research interests between our two agencies” said Dr. Tomohiko Yamaguchi, Director of NRI. “In addition, Thailand is centrally located in Asia and this makes for easy logistical arrangements during research collaboration activities”.

The NANOTEC-NRI Nanomaterial Joint Research Meeting which takes place from August 1-2 at NANOTEC is a 2 days meeting between researchers from NANOTEC and Nanosystem Research Institute (NRI) in Japan. The meeting aim to update information on research findings and identify potential research collaboration activities between the two agencies. A total of 12 researchers are taking part in technical presentations.
