[8 August 2022] Dr. Archawin Rojanawiwat, Director of National Institute of Health, Department of Medical Sciences, Ministry of Public Health and Dr. Pavadee Aungkavattana, Deputy Executive Director of NANOTEC, NSTDA, presided over the 1st Thailand Symposium on Nanopore technology. The two-day hybrid events were organized during 8-9 August 2022 by Department of Medical Sciences, Ministry of Public Health and NANOTEC, NSTDA.
The first day was the “International Seminar on Development and Application of Nanopore Technology” whereas the brainstorming session on the topic of “Expert Talks and Roundtable Discussion on Current Research and Development of Nanopore Technology in Thailand” was organized on 9 August 2022.
Both events aimed to establish the research network on nanopore technology and to build a consortium both locally and internationally through the integration of knowledge among peers from over the world. Moreover, this is the great opportunity for the academicians, scientists, researchers, from both public and private sectors to disseminate knowledge and to exchange the idea of nanopore technology application in various fields such as medicine and public health, agriculture, and the environment. This will lead to a research ecosystem of nanopore technology from research and development towards a comprehensive and sustainable utilization.
There are more than 10 renowned professors and scientists from well-known institutions/universities including unicorn startup company who had considerable expertise in Nanopore Technology participating the events which comprised of:
- United Kingdom: University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, Imperial College London and Oxford Nanopore Technologies Limited
- Singapore: A*Star
- People’s Republic of China: Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)
- Japan: University to Tokyo and Osaka University
- Thailand: Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC), and NANOTEC, NSTDA
On this occasion, Dr. Deanpen Japrung, Director of Responsive Material and Nanosensor Research Group, NANOTEC, NSTDA gave her talk on “Overview on Nanopore Technology and Research Network in Thailand”. She aimed to use this event as a platform to connect peers in Thailand who apply nanopore technology for nanorobotics and nanopore technology to unravel some healthcare and environmental problems according to global SDG and Thailand BCG policy.
