Tokyo Big Sight was the venue for the 10th International Nanotechnology conference & exhibition “nano tech 2011”. It is estimated that over 50,000 people will attend this 3 days event which began on Feb 16 and will continue until Friday, Feb 18. This is the first time that Thailand is participating as an exhibitor. The theme of Thailand exhibition is “Nanotechnology in Thailand: Explore your Opportunities”. H.E. Dr. Virachai Virameteekul, Minister of Science and Technology, together with Prof. Sirirurg Songsivilai, Executive Director of NANOTEC and Ms. Ajarin Pattanapanchai, Senior Executive Investment Advisor of Thailand Board of Investment led the Thailand team which included representatives from Thailand Science Park (TSP), Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), and the Thai private sector groups, and NANOTEC.
The objectives of Thailand’s participation at Nano tech 2011 are:
- Build collaboration in areas related to technology transfer and joint research activities, based on the Thailand’s strength on nanotechnology
- Increase opportunities for overseas business to consider Thailand Science Park as a research base
The highlights of Thailand exhibition are:
- nano-sensor,
- functional textile
- encapsulation and coating
- business investment opportunities
- research collaboration opportunities
In addition to exhibiting at Nano tech 2011, the Thailand team also met with key Japanese research institutes such as National Institute for Material Science (NIMS), Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), RIKEN, New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
Nano tech 2012 is scheduled for Feb 15-17 at Tokyo Big Sight.
