Researchers in the Korea and US say they have made amorphous indium-gallium-zinc oxide thin-film transistors that are completely soluble in water. The transient devices, which “disappear” once they have served their purpose, might be used in a wide range of new technologies, such as temporary, biodegradable medical implants, environmental sensors, and hardware for secure data systems or “clandestine” electronic devices for military applications……
