Thanks to new atomic force microscopy experiments, researchers from Russia and Switzerland say that they have observed the first-ever biological example of Turing nanopatterns – in the corneae of insects. The work could shed more light on the mechanisms underlying the formation of such 3D patterns in living organisms, and may even help in the development of artificial antireflective nanosurfaces inspired by these natural architectures………
