“The workshop will focus on the application of nanotechnology in textile and agricultural sector” said Prof. Sirirurg Songsivilai, Executive Director of NANOTEC during his welcome remarks. “This workshop coincide with the Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Education effort to contribute and support the government country strategy plan to upgrade the Thai economy by “moving up the value chain pertaining to textile and agriculture”.
“The VEC is pleased to partner with NANOTEC to building VEC teachers awareness to nanotechnology application” said Mr. Phansak Rojanakart, Senior Adviser for Vocational Education Standards, VEC during his opening remark. “Teachers can then incorporate the learning of nanotechnology in their curriculum especially in the engineering courses where hands-on activities takes place. Application of nanotechnology in the annual science project competition should also be encouraged”.
This workshop is the 2nd of 4 workshops which will be implemented within this year. Both NANOTEC and VEC signed a collboartive partnership agreement in March 2011 to conduct series of activities such as faculty training, research project competition, and include nanotechnology information in the curriculum, all of which is to increase awareness and knowledge of nanotechnology for both faculty and students.
