On February 24, the Vocational Education Commission organized a 3 days workshop on “Knowledge Development in nanotechnology for S&T and Innovation in Vocational Education colleges”. Over 100 faculty members attended the workshop in Bangkok. Special guest speaker for the first day was Dr. Nuttapun Supaka, Head of Testing and Service Lab at NANOTEC.
“The vocational education system in Thailand is an appropriate venue to promote the knowledge in nanotechnology” said Dr. Nuttapun. “Both faculty and students already have the basic understanding of technology and should be in the position to blend nanotechnology in their R&D activities”.
Currently the Vocational Education Commission oversees a total of 415 technical institutions (government). There is a plan to include 400 technical colleges from the private sector to be under the administration of the commission. If this plan goes into effect, the commission will oversee over 800 technical college nation wide (over 60,000+ students).
