Responsive Nanomaterials Research Team (RNM)
Our team focus on controlled design and synthesis of functional and responsive nanostructured materials. We explore their intrinsic properties and develop sensing platforms based on their properties for a variety of fields ranging from chemical sensing, food pathogen detections, plant disease detections, to biomedical diagnostics. Areas of focus include: • Design, synthesis and surface functionalization of stimuli/responsive nanomaterials (inorganic/organic nanomaterials) with intrinsic properties e.g. colloidal metal nanoparticles, alloy, metal-nanocomposites, and polymer based nanomaterials, etc. • Chemical binding of ligands or compounds on the surface of inorganic nanomaterials to confer additional functionality (e.g. solubility, colloidal stability, biocompatibility, bioconjugation, targeting, sensing, and controlled release of substances). • Nanoparticles based signal amplifications of biosensors • Development of detection platforms and signal enhancement platform for ultra-sensitive sensors.Current research projects
